NDIS Code of conduct

NDIS Code of Conduct — Standards for Safe & Respectful Support

The NDIS Code of Conduct sets clear rules for disability service providers and support workers to ensure participants receive safe, ethical, and person-centred support. It protects the rights, dignity, wellbeing, and freedom of choice for all NDIS participants across Sydney and Australia.

1. Purpose of the NDIS Code of Conduct

The code safeguards participants by:

  • Promoting respectful and empowering care.

  • Preventing abuse, neglect, discrimination, and exploitation.

  • Setting expectations for NDIS providers and workers.

  • Ensuring quality, transparency, and accountability in support services.

2. Core Principles of the NDIS Code

All NDIS workers and providers must:

  1. Act with respect for individual rights and diversity.

  2. Deliver safe, competent, and ethical support.

  3. Maintain privacy and confidentiality.

  4. Report risks, harm, and unsafe practices.

  5. Avoid fraudulent or misleading behaviour.

  6. Prevent abuse, harm or neglect.

Every participant has the right to:

  • Be treated fairly, respectfully, and without judgement.

  • Receive support that is free from harm, abuse, or discrimination.

  • Have personal information protected and kept confidential.

  • Make their own decisions about care, providers, and services.

  • Feel safe and supported at home or in community programs.
